THE STATE HISTORICAL MISEUM HOSTED THE EXHIBITION “FOLLOWING OUR RECOLLECTIONS” |
22/01/2007
Appeal to our memory is by no means figurative. And if the specifying name says “City Life of 1920s – 1960s” it means that many people who were not born during that time are familiar with the old-fashioned things not by hearsay.
Recreated communal flats of 1930s – 50s including interior and household items are demonstrated at the exposition. However, household utensils made with the famous Soviet quality rarely urge their owners to part with them, therefore, every second Russian flat still can pretend to be a mini-exposition.
The exhibition indirectly mentions the Soviet leaders, thus, the ordinary Soviet things are replaced by exhibits from the “House on Naberezhnaya” museum. The personal belongings of Anna and Maria Ulyanovs, Alexandra Kollontai, Yakov Jugashvili are demonstrated there for the first time. The displays were represented against various posters, graphics, paintings, newspapers, magazines and photos revealing the major events of the period, while monitors featured movies fragments popular in 1950s.
